Price, meds, flu coverage and what you actually get, compared side by side.

Flu season arrived early this year. CDC data shows positive flu tests climbing week over week, mostly from the H1N1 strain, and the West Coast is seeing the most activity. At the same time, more Americans are building emergency medical kits so they aren't stuck waiting days for a prescription when someone in the house gets sick.

Three companies come up most when people search for prescription emergency kits: Jase Medical, The Wellness Company (TWC) and Prepare Medical. All three include a doctor review and ship real prescription medicine to your door. They differ on price, what's inside, and what you pay extra for.

We're Prepare Medical, so we have an obvious stake in this. That's why every number below comes from each company's own product page, with links, so you can check them yourself.
‍

The quick answer
  • Lowest price: Prepare Medical Essential, $229.99 with code PREPPER
  • Most meds available: Prepare Medical All Inclusive, 20 medications
  • Lowest cost per medication: Prepare Medical, from $27.50 per med with PREPPER
  • Only kit with flu medicine (Tamiflu) included: Prepare Medical
  • Most meds in a starter kit: Jase Case, 10 medications for $289.95
    ‍

1. Price: what each kit costs

Prepare Medical's Essential kit is the lowest-priced of the three. With code PREPPER it's $229.99, which is $60 less than the Jase Case and $70 less than TWC's Medical Emergency Kit.

KitPriceWith PREPPERMedicationsCost per medication
Prepare Essential$279.99$229.998$28.75
Prepare Essential Plus$419.99$369.9913$28.46
Prepare All Inclusive$599.99$549.9920$27.50
Jase Case$289.95—10$29.00
TWC Medical Emergency Kit$299.99—8$37.50

Regular list prices from each company's US product page as of October 30, 2026. Cost per medication = price divided by the number of different medications, with PREPPER applied for Prepare kits. Jase and TWC run their own promotions from time to time.

With PREPPER, every Prepare Medical kit costs less per medication than both Jase and TWC, and the more complete the kit, the lower the cost per med.

2. What's in each kit

All three starter kits share the same core antibiotics: amoxicillin-clavulanate, azithromycin, doxycycline and metronidazole, plus ondansetron for nausea. After that, they go in different directions.

Quantities are tablets or capsules unless noted. Every company may substitute or leave out a medication based on your allergies and health history.

Need more? Prepare's Essential Plus adds ivermectin, albendazole, antibiotic eye drops, mupirocin ointment and acyclovir ointment (13 meds total). All Inclusive adds 7 more, including an albuterol inhaler, naproxen and pantoprazole (20 meds total).

3. Flu season: the medicine only one kit includes

Prepare Medical is the only one of the three that puts flu medicine in its starter kit. Every Prepare kit includes oseltamivir, the generic form of Tamiflu.

That matters because antiviral flu medicine works best when it's started early, ideally within 48 hours of symptoms. If your family gets sick on a Friday night, waiting for an appointment and a pharmacy run can eat up most of that window.

This year makes the timing more pressing:

  • Flu activity is running higher than usual for this point in the season, according to the CDC.
  • Most cases so far are H1N1.
  • Pharmacies can run short of Tamiflu at the peak of a bad season.

With oseltamivir already at home, you can call your doctor or Prepare's support team and start treatment the same day if they tell you to.

Oseltamivir doesn't replace a flu shot, and it isn't right for everyone. Always check with a doctor before starting any medication.

4. Included vs. paid extras

A low sticker price can hide a lot of add-ons. Here's what each company includes and what costs extra.

Doctor consultation. All three include a review by a licensed doctor before anything is prescribed. Prepare and TWC both list it as free. Jase's product page doesn't show a separate consult fee.

Shipping. Prepare ships free, and kits arrive in 3 to 5 days after the doctor approves your order. TWC ships free within the US, but says delivery can take 1 to 2 weeks depending on when your consultation is scheduled. Jase calculates shipping at checkout.

Add-ons. The Jase Case lists ivermectin, valacyclovir, albuterol, fluconazole and acetazolamide as add-ons. Prepare includes valacyclovir in every kit, ivermectin from Essential Plus up, and albuterol in All Inclusive. TWC includes ivermectin and fluconazole in its Medical Emergency Kit.

Support after you order. Every Prepare kit comes with one year of support from a medical specialist, so you can ask when and how to use something before you open it.

5. Where Jase and TWC do well

Each of the three kits is a reasonable choice, and it would be unfair to leave out where the others come out ahead.

  • Jase Case has the most medications in a starter kit (10), the most doxycycline (120 capsules), and a few meds the others don't include, like ciprofloxacin and a steroid dose pack.
  • TWC's Medical Emergency Kit includes ivermectin, Bactrim and fluconazole without an upgrade, plus a free doctor consult.
